Shazam, now owned by Apple, has introduced a new feature that allows users to identify music even while wearing headphones. This update, announced recently, enables users to open the Shazam app, verify headphone connectivity with a headphone icon, and proceed to identify music playing in their surroundings or within apps like TikTok and YouTube. The enhancement supports both wired and Bluetooth headphones.
For instance, if you're enjoying TikTok content with headphones and stumble upon a song you like, you can simply switch to the Shazam app, tap Shazam, and return to TikTok. After a brief pause in the music, you can return to the Shazam app to discover the title and artist of the song.
Similarly, if you're in a coffee shop with headphones on and wish to identify the background music, you can now use Shazam without needing to remove your headphones.
Previously, Shazam allowed users to identify songs within apps like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, but this functionality was unavailable while wearing headphones.
Established in 2002, Shazam became a part of Apple through a $400 million acquisition in 2017. With over 300 million monthly users worldwide, the app remains a popular choice for music enthusiasts.
